New Zealand's prime minister has lifted its lockdown, saying progress has been made against the current outbreak of the virus. 

The one exception is the northern city of Auckland. 

New Zealand tightened restrictions in mid-August after a single COVID case was detected. 

More than 800 infections have come to light since then.
