Protests have erupted in Iraq. Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets across several cities. 

The government's response has been forceful and bloody. Hundreds of protesters have been injured and at least 27 killed by live fire. 

But dozens of videos and photos uploaded online show there's another unexpected source of protester casualties: tear gas canisters.
